Stamford resident Charles Pia Sr., 62, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of misappropriation of funds and fourth-degree grand larceny this week. He was ordered to pay $2,100 in restitution and a $5,000 fine.

Pia was arrested on Friday, March 29 after the Stamford Police Department received multiple complaints about his suspected impropriety over the course of several years. A year-and-a-half police investigation determined that Pia did use girls' softball funds to pay for services on his personal vehicle and pay off utility bills at his home.

In total, Pia stole approximately $1,500 from the organization.

No longer the president of the girl's softball organization, Pia has since turned over any accounts he controlled to a new organization, Stamford Troy Softball.
